how to respond to an offer of admission?
(too old to reply)

hello.

I have been admitted to university UNIV1, but I am waiting to hear from
UNIV2 where my application is still under review (no decision yet). I
have received an e-mail and the official letter of admission by mail
from UNIV1. Should I confirm by email that I have indeed received the
official letter in my mail box? What should I say in such an email? for
example should I explain that I am waiting to hear from all the
universities to which I have applied before taking a decision on their
offer? or should I just shut up and say: "I have received the offer in
my mail box. Thank you" ?

How many time do we usually have to take a decision on an offer? (It is
writtien in the offer: "... let us know as soon as possible wether or
not you accept this offer")

Colleges usually want a reply from admitted freshmen by May 1, along
with a deposit check. They know you have applied to other schools and
need to hear from all of them for admission and financial aid before
making a decision.

There is normally no reason to respond at all at this time. They will
assume that you got the admission letter.

For the schools you don't decide to attend, they will figure out that
you are not coming when they don't get a check around May 1, but as a
courtesy I suggest that you let them know so as to possibly free up a
spot for someone else who might be on their wait list. Or if you later
decide to transfer there from your first college.

Yes, as far as no need to respond acknowledging the letter of admission
before the deposit date. You applied, they accepted, and unless they
want something more between their acceptance and your deposit the next
step is to mail a check or let them know you are not coming.

But unlike undergrads some grad schools may have a different (earlier or
later) date when they expect the deposit. If a school wants the deposit
so early that you won't have heard from the other schools you can
certainly ask if you can have an extension while waiting to hear from
others, but they don't have to allow it.
